Explorer of the Seas arrived at Ogden Point for the first time on Tuesday, May 17. It is the largest cruise ship to ever visit Victoria and the largest ship operating in the Alaskan region. It carries 3,114 passengers, and will make 21 daytime calls to our city in 2016.

Ogden Point is the busiest cruise ship port-of-call in Canada. There are expected to be 227 ship calls to Ogden Point this season, with close to 533,000 passengers. The overall economic impact of cruise for the Greater Victoria region is estimated at more than $100 million. Each cruise ship call brings in an average of $40,000 in direct spending to the region. Cruise activity generated $1.79 billion for the BC economy in 2014.
