News Flash: Mega Yacht Marina

In two unanimous decisions at a public council meeting on September 7, Victoria City Council has rezoned two major areas that affect the proposed luxury marina. The zoning of the area where the developer wants to build his marina has been downzoned from Heavy Industrial to the "MS-6 Zone, Lime Bay District." Plus, the property known as Westsong Way Pathway has been rezoned from Heavy Industrial to a VHP Zone, Victoria Harbour Park District. The new zoning scheme will cut the span of the proposed marina in half.  

Opponents of the marina proposal are very pleased with the rezoning. They see it as an important first step to preserving the Songhees area as an inclusive natural public space.
