On Wednesday, June 08, the Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS) held a fundraiser at the Heron Rock Bistro and received unbelievable support from the James Bay Community. I never realized until I looked around that night exactly how much the citizens of James Bay contribute to our organization.  Long term James Bay Residents Joan McHardy, Noreen Marshall and Patti Stockton, all sit on our board.  Kim Dixon, the Executive Director of James Bay New Horizons has supported and helped TAPS out many times over the years. Carole James and her staff have always supported TAPS and worked hard on issues facing our clients.  One of the fabulous musicians who played at the fundraiser, Emily Braden lives in James Bay. Artists Adam Curry, Paul Shalansky, and the Beacon's own Rosalinde Compton, who all contributed their fine work to the live auction......you guessed it - James Bay Residents. We also received a show of support from businesses in the James Bay area, including the Hotel Grand Pacific, the Inn at Laurel Point, and Kurt Lefensky. Finally, last but most certainly not least, the Heron Rock Bistro's Andrew Moffat - his generosity and the time he contributed to making TAPS fundraiser a success was unbelievable.  We really don't know how to thank him, but believe the people of James Bay should know what a truly amazing and supportive local business we have in our midst! TAPS fundraiser was the perfect example of what people can achieve when they work TOGETHER.  ....and by working TOGETHER WE CAN ERADICATE POVERTY.

Thanks again to our wonderful James Bay community!

What an incredible community we live in.
