An Awakening

Apr 2017

The cool undergrowth of the Aspen woods

offers an ideal climate for the delicate

Shooting Star.  Its yellow beak pointing

downward toward the earth, purplish-

red petals folded back a piercing look

as though praising the earth from whence

it came, resembling the shooting stars

coming to earth in the blackness of night

from the dome above.

All nature awakes

When the sparrow hawk screams

To announce its return.
