Lovely and Sweet

I have read (and it must be true)

That we all eat

36 teaspoons of sugar a day, Do you?

And now, if I may, I’d like to take

That last piece of cake!

If I continue in this way

Someday I may,

Turn into a sugar cube,

And end up in someone’s cup of tea,

(Then I’ll be lovely and sweet).

That may be my Fate,

And then they’ll say,

It must have been something she ate!

That last piece of cake!
