Open House
April 14, 5:30 – 7pm
By Delia McCrae (President, JB Toastmasters)
Polish your public speaking skills while you develop self-confidence and leadership skills. The Open House, April 14 from 5:30 – 7 pm, held upstairs in the James Bay Community Project building at 547 Michigan Street and sponsored by James Bay Toastmasters, is a perfect opportunity for you to take the first step towards developing improved communication skills.
Toastmasters follows a tried and true program that provides members an opportunity to overcome the jitters many people experience when speaking in public, or in front of a group. The program allows you to focus on different aspects of public speaking while you practice in a safe, fun atmosphere. At the same time, you will receive positive, helpful feedback from other members.
Step out, and step up, to increased self-confidence, and discover fresh new insights related to how to present your ideas in a way that captivates and interests others. Learn how to control nervousness, how to organize your speech for more impact, and how to use vocal variety and body language effectively.
Take this opportunity to investigate how to develop your own skills, abilitiesm, and talents. Learn how you can speak out, and keep your audience listening by communicating your thoughts more effectively. Check out the James Bay Toastmasters’ Open House, April 14, 5:30 – 7pm in the James Bay Community Project, 547 Michigan Street.
And remember, you are welcome to drop in to any regularly scheduled James Bay Toastmasters’ meetings, held on the second and fourth Thursday of every month, 5:30 – 7pm in the James Bay Community Project building on Michigan Street. Meetings begin promptly at 5:30 pm. For more information please contact Kristie Robbins (VP Membership) at kristier@shaw.ca
