Happiness and love

For weeks now, I had been walking past interesting mobiles suspended from trees along the waterway on Dallas Road, including a huge spider’s web complete with spider and fly. It was exciting to check each morning to see if there was anything new.
And finally, much to my delight, I came upon the artist himself, hard at work, weaving strands of ivy into globes and wheels to form a giant mobile. Tiring of Vancouver, Tori relocated to Victoria three and a half years ago. His mother, who had been an art teacher, used to make mobiles for her students and so Tori is well versed in the process, the difference being that he strives to use only things from nature.
Apparently the original spider in the web got blown away in a very heavy wind and a kind passerby replaced it with the one seen here in the photo. That spider also came to an untimely end – chewed up by a playful dog.
“I just want to spread a little happiness and love,” said Tori, and judging from the number of people who have stopped to say, “Thanks,” he is doing just that.
