The Test
Oct 2015
My heart sank lower
As the teacher bent over
And lay down the dreaded test
My knees felt like jello
but he said, “Be mellow
It’s only a test, don’t you know.”
For two hours straight
I wrote and I wrote
my wrist thought itself broke
and my brain was squeezed
out like a sponge
but he said, “Be mellow
It’s only a test, don’t you know.”
And finally finished
my brain like cooked spinach
I handed in that offensive test
My knees felt like jello
but he said, “Be mellow
It’s only a test, don’t you know.”
Now why do I fret
and my palms start to sweat
when they say it’s worth
thirty percent of my mark
Well the message is here
I can’t get it clear
It’s only a test, don’t you know
