Two to the Left and one to the Right

How do we remember what's what?

Left, Right.

Red, Green.

Port, Starboard.

Two blasts, not one.

Like Bill Ellis, Ship's horn part of its safety equipment, I love the sounds of our port. I often hear the Coho's three short blasts as it backs away from its berth. However, the convention for moving to the left or to the right is two short blasts for port and one for starboard. Hopefully I will never hear five short blasts.
