Swiftsure

Winds were almost perfect for the start of the 72^nd Swiftsure International Yacht Race which took place in late May. More than 200 boats from across Vancouver Island, Vancouver, Puget Sound and Oregon, took part.

Racing from the start at Clover Point, there are actually five races that make up the event: the Swiftsure Lightship Classic (138.2 nautical miles), Hein Bank Race (118.1 nautical miles), Cape Flattery Race (101.9 nautical miles), Juan de Fuca Race (78.7 nautical miles) and the Swiftsure Inshore Classic.

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club hosts the Swiftsure International Yacht Race which is actually the third and final race of the BC Triple Crown.
