Greater Victoria Harbour Authority
The next GVHA public board meeting is November 20, 2014, 5:30 pm. Plan on attending as many of their decisions have impact on daily life in James Bay.
GVHA will hold their annual open house at the Victoria Edelweiss Club, 108 Niagara Street, on Tuesday, November 25, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Everyone welcome.
The numbers are out! This year, between May and October, 206 cruise ship visits to our harbor were recorded with approximately 465,000 passengers. The forecast for next year calls for 235 ship calls carrying approximately 531,000 passengers. As well, cruise ships be in harbor a greater period of daytime hours and, on average, 5% longer.

The James Bay Community School and at the James Bay New Horizons Centre. Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Advance voting will take place from 8:00am to 8:00pm Wednesday, November 5 and Monday November 10. The Advance Poll will be at the City Hall.
The ballot this election will include the following question: “Are you in favour of reducing the number of municipalities in the Capital Regional District through amalgamation?” The results are ‘non-binding’.

Neighbourhood Leaf Collection
James Bay leaf collection is scheduled to begin on December 8. Place on the boulevard in loose piles or tied in clear 100% compostable bags. City trucks will make one pass down each street. However if you call the City parks office at 250-361-0600, leaving name, address and phone number, arrangements can be made for pick-up of bagged leaves, for free, within 5 working days. Bags must be clear, 100% compostable, plastic 33 litre standard size. If a return trip is necessary, $40 may be charged, per household’s request.
Mayor’s Open Door
Mayor’s Open Door, is usually held the first and third Friday of every month and is an opportunity for citizens to spend 10 minutes discussing their issues privately with the Mayor. Call the City for more information.
Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate
The City of Victoria in partnership with the Greater Victoria Public Library is accepting nominations for positions of Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate. Submission deadline is Monday, November 3 at 4:30 p.m.
